How to treat dry scalp
I’ve been suffering with a bit of dry scalp recently and it has caused me to research ways to treat it. Unfortunately, we often confuse dry scalp with dandruff and usually end up treating both with the same treatments. This can have a damaging effect on your scalp as it could treat dandruff issues but it could potentially leave you with a dry scalp or make the situation worse.
A lot of the products we buy from stores also contain substances that can add to a dry scalp. We believe in using homemade treatments so here are some treatments on how to naturally treat dry scalp issues:
- Up your Vitamin E intake. Vitamin E can help re-balance the oils on the scalp and can help relieve some dryness.
- Sesame oil. Use sesame oil in your hair, spend a good ten minutes massaging the oil into your scalp, then wrap your hair in a towel for a heating effect. Leave the oil and towel on overnight if possible – the towel will also help avoid pillow stains! Try to do this twice a week until you see results and then reduce.
- Add Zinc to your diet. Zinc has huge healing effects for skin and scalp, this can help reduce dandruff as well.
- Rosemary oil. Add 2-3 drops of Rosemary oil to a tablespoon of avocado oil and massage into your scalp for a few minutes everyday.
